Performance Canoes
Esquif Series
 |
Avalon Are you in
need of a do-it-all, medium duty, lightweight canoe that can handle
some abuse? Then consider an Esquif Avalon in Royalite. Shallow-V
design, fine entry and exit, and stiff construction make the Avalon
a great choice for flatwater casual paddling and river running. Royalite
also make portages less of a chore for any paddler. To optimize comfort
and performance the outfitting of the Avalon, includes kneeling thwart
and sliding bow seat. |
| Presage offers an unparalleled level
of durability and river-touring performance. When paddlers undertake
an extended backcountry expedition not only does the equipment have
to get them out there, it needs to bring it all home. The Presage
is a proficient river canoe and with a little attention will track
on flatwater. Due to the nature of Royalex, it is the ideal bomb-proof
material to work in concert with the design of the Presage. It is
a capable beast of burden for extended treks and surprisingly playful
when tricked-out for serious whitewater. |

Vertige (not pictured)
Solo whitewater play boating is exciting and secure in the Vertige.
It offers great levels of initial and final stability, the attributes
most appreciated by beginners and intermediate paddlers. Due to its
high volume, it provides a dry ride in 'big' water and due to its
light weight it is responsive to all paddlers. |
| The Nitro is an explosive whitewater
canoe that has taken solo canoeing to new heights. Healthy rocker
combined with plenty of volume means the Nitro can handle virtually
any whitewater scenario. Hard chines, never before implemented in
a Royalex canoe, provides outstanding final stability for incredible
control in big water. Only rave reviews have accompanied this canoe
as it barnstormed the whitewater canoe market. |

Not All Plastics Are Created Equal - Royalex® is
a canoe hull material that is comprised of a 'sandwich' of several materials.
Uniroyal produces Royalex by vulcanizing an ABS plastic foam core between
sheets of ABS plastic and that is encased in layers of vinyl. The results
are virtually bomb-proof, lightweight, stiff and unlike other plastics,
repairable. Also, due to the foam core, positive buoyancy is inherent
in the canoe's hull and eliminates the need for built-in flotation tanks.
Because the exterior layers are vinyl they can be bonded to for accommodating
gear/flotation tie-downs or the addition of abrasion resistant Kevlar
skid plates. In short, Royalex is the most forgiving material from which
to mold canoes. Royalite offers similar properties with modifications
to make it even lighter weight.

Canadian Lite Series
 |
Canadian Lite 16-4 & Canadian Lite 14-10 Touring performance
best describes these canoes. By combining a shallow-V hull with
graceful natural lines, slender entry and exit, results in a canoe
that is adaptable to varied water conditions, predictable, forgiving
and efficient. Load up the 16'4 for excursions of any length.
For solo paddling or for the needs of lighter paddlers consider
the smaller 14'10 version.
Unique to the Canadian Lite canoes is a stern flotation tank that
includes not only a beverage holder and sport bottle, it contains
a small dry-storage compartment; ideal for small valuables like
wallet, keys or glasses.

Kevlar® Lay-up For those paddlers that demand durability
and weight-savings, give serious consideration to a Canadian-Lite canoe
constructed with Kevlar reinforcement. While maintaining all the strength
necessary to complete expeditions successfully, weve reduced the
weight to facilitate portages by incorporating Kevlar into the lay-up.
Kevlar is an aramid fiber utilized in the aerospace and marine industries
because its properties include a weight/ strength ratio five times that
of steel.
