XYTEC Not only are the designs of the Velocity
and Flight cutting edge, so is the construction material. Xytec
is the latest plastic to be applied the field of kayak construction. Its
properties include, the stiffness of blow-molded plastic, impact resistance
of cross-link polyethylene, and the repair-ability and recycle-ability
of linear polyethylene. When you consider that every edge, flat surface
and line on your kayak has a specific purpose, the properties of Xytec
are truly advantageous. Xytec has more resistance to wear, and more
stiffness than any other plastic available. So, long after your purchase,
your kayak will continue to provide optimum performance.

Velocity An expert's kayak that is
beginner friendly. Together with the design team at Riot Kayaks, spearheaded
by Olympic and world medalist kayaker Corran Addison, we strived to
create the best crossover kayak ever made for both touring and river
running. The revolutionary hull design makes the Velocity both faster
and more maneuverable than other kayaks of it's length. Entry level
paddlers can get started with an efficient design that is stable,
comfortable and predictable. When your skills improve and are ready
to push the envelope (quicker rivers up to class III whitewater, multi-day
backcountry treks, coastal paddle trails, or ocean surfing) the capabilities
of the Velocity won't let you down. |
Unique By Design. Concave keels in series accomplish
a number of results in paddling performance. As the Velocity is propelled
forward, the series of keels set-up laminar flow of water beneath the
hull, enhancing the boats ability to track. In addition, a slight skeg
incorporated into the stern increases this directional stability. Also,
the multiple keels compress the water creating lift, the Velocity will
actually plane.
From a structural standpoint, the many keels provide tremendous stiffness
to the hull, this adds to the boats efficiency performance and longevity.
By integrating volume enough for overnight camping, it also offers stability
enough for the novice paddler, fisherman, birder or photographer. By combining
these design principles with a moderate degree of rocker and a flat-bottom
at midship the versatility of the Velocity is astounding.
Nowhere else will you find a kayak with so much potential
for so many types of paddling. The Velocity will be very much at home
in class II water, fishing lakes, rivers, salt-marshes, harbors or light
overnight coastal excursions. We are excited to provide a kayak that offers
such a bounty of possibilities.

Flight Much of what weve learned
from experience with the Velocity has been applied to the creation
of the Flight. As the smaller sibling of the Velocity, the Flight
provides all the performance at a significantly lighter weight. Smaller
paddlers will delight in paddling a kayak created to meet their particular
needs. The design foundation is based on the low center of gravity
that comes with being a smaller paddler. Let's take advantage of this
critical element of kayaking. A low profile makes it easy to reach
the water to paddle and reduces the effects of wind. By making the
beam narrower, the kayak settles into the water to greatly enhance
performance and dramatically increasing efficiency. Tunnel-hull construction
not only provides tremendous structural integrity, it creates ample
stability and super tracking. |
